TRICERATOPS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM | EWU – SPOKANE / CHENEY | WINTER 2022
· Taught 3rd grade students about poetry, over the course of one quarter - four sessions in which myself and another MFA student prepared and taught lesson plans to the class, collaborated with the students and teacher to generate, title, and edit new work. We then collected, organized, and published the work for them in a small chapbook that they could bring home.

· 6th Annual Spokane Writer’s Conference, October 2022 - Taught online - “simple and concrete ways to start writing poetry. For beginning and advanced writers, this session will focus on lessons about line break, image, and overall effect”

· Co-Founder / Co-Editor of an Independent art and writing magazine – privately solicited work from over two dozen artists and writers – organized and hosted two separate local release events that featured creative readings and songwriting performances by many local authors


THE WISCONSIN REVIEW | SENIOR EDITOR | MAY 2017-JUNE 2019
· Selected, edited, and proofread poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction submissions · Revived the journal after an almost two-year period of inactivity: rallied a new team, delegated duties, unraveled abandoned work, solicited fine art; contacted (and handled all concerns) from submitting writers and subscribing customers; personally read, evaluated, and edited over 500 submissions; contributed alongside the efforts of another English student to design the layout; successfully printed and released first new issue in two years, as well as an additional two issues with an assembled team, each over 100-pages; handled distribution as well, locally and nationally

· Volunteer position as a dog-walker, led to recruitment in a progressive training program for aggressively defensive dogs – active education on positive reinforcement, or “clicker” training

· Formerly called “Ministry Behavioral Health” or “Ascension Health” – From 2014-2019, I was a regular part of the group speaker rotation, visiting the house every other month to share my experiences in addiction, rehabilitation, and recovery – with a focus on my “experience, strength, and hope” – this was an important part of my own recovery and growth, and I also regularly attended, spoke at, and sponsored other participants in 12-Step Fellowships (AA, NA)

· English 201 – Academic Writing and Thinking: Focus on analysis, rhetoric, research, and critical academic writing – My intent, in addition to the course goals, was to ensure that students understood the expectation of academic writing, including not just formatting, research, and writing skills – but the basic parts of an essay, how to use the library, how to write complete paragraphs consistently, and other often overlooked writing / life skills
· Fiction 217 – Awarded section after a competitive application process among EWU GSA – Introductory workshop section, 2x a week for 2.2 hours each session – sessions broken up into parts such as: lecture, craft focus, writing exercises, seminar, and most importantly workshop. Curriculum focused on scene writing; sharing work / feedback; story development / revision
